BBC Three documentary Legends Never Die explores the lives and careers of Lil Peep, XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD - three of the most influential hip-hop artists of Gen Z, all of whom died by the age of 21. The film questions how this happened, and the extent to which the 24/7 gaze of modern fame played a role.

I designed and created the motion graphics featured throughout the documentary, responding to themes across the artists’ lyrics, internet culture, and the highs and lows that ultimately led to their deaths. With the internet playing a central role in the film, I developed a visual language built around digital “grammar” and behaviour, with sequences designed to work both independently and as a collective system.
 

The visuals draw on psychedelic backdrops, distorted footage treatments, and abstract colour bands that merge with lyrics or represent key themes. The work was influenced by altered states of perception and the visual distortions associated with drug use, reflecting the lived experiences of all three artists.
